Units you will see on a plate

Symbol	Unit	What it is
kW	kilowatt	SI unit of power. IEC motor output is rated in kW (shaft mechanical power).
hp	horsepower (mechanical)	Imperial power unit. 1 hp = 746 W = 0.746 kW. Common on US / farm nameplates.
PS / CV	metric horsepower	1 PS ≈ 735.5 W ≈ 0.735 kW. Do not mix with mechanical hp.
r/min	revolutions per minute	Shaft speed. IEC also writes min⁻¹. Not the same as poles, but poles set the synchronous speed.
Hz	hertz	Supply frequency. 50 Hz in most IEC markets; 60 Hz in North America and some export jobs.
V	volt	Line voltage. A 50 Hz IEC machine is often 380–415 V; confirm Δ/Y on the plate.
