Nameplate to JW quote checklist
A useful motor enquiry is a filled nameplate, not a brand name. Enter what you can read (kW or hp, volts, hertz, poles or r/min, frame, mounting, IE class). The tool writes a short message you can paste into our contact form. Missing fields are fine — a photo of the plate still helps.
About this tool
A useful motor enquiry is a filled nameplate, not a brand name. Enter what you can read (kW or hp, volts, hertz, poles or r/min, frame, mounting, IE class). The tool writes a short message you can paste into our contact form. Missing fields are fine — a photo of the plate still helps.
Who this is for
Use it before you email JW, so kW, poles and mounting are in one block.

What to read on the plate
- Rated output
- kW or hp of shaft power at the rated duty (usually S1). Convert hp with 0.746 before you compare IEC leaflets.
- V and Hz
- Line voltage and frequency. 50 Hz IEC industrial is often 380 V / 400 V / 415 V. 60 Hz jobs need a 60 Hz winding or a confirmed dual-frequency plate.
- A (current)
- Rated current at the marked voltage. Useful for cable and starter size; JW can still quote from kW + V if amps are unreadable.
- cos φ / PF
- Power factor at rated load. Not required for a first quote.
- IE2 / IE3 / IE4
- IEC 60034-30-1 efficiency class. Class is not a kW. Efficiency % still has to be read from that specific rating.
Common supply markings
| Marking | Meaning | What to tell JW |
|---|---|---|
| 380–415 V 50 Hz | Usual IEC three-phase low voltage | Three-phase, 50 Hz; confirm Δ/Y if dual voltage is printed |
| 220–240 / 380–415 V | Dual voltage, typically 230 Δ / 400 Y | Say which site voltage you have |
| 440–480 V 60 Hz | North American / export 60 Hz | Need 60 Hz or a dual-frequency design |
| 690 V | Higher LV industrial | Not a 400 V bin item — custom / special |
Mounting codes (IEC)
| Code | Name | What changes on the motor |
|---|---|---|
| IM B3 (IM 1001) | Foot | Feet down, shaft horizontal |
| IM B5 (IM 3001) | Flange | Large flange, no feet (or feet unused) |
| IM B35 (IM 2001) | Foot + flange | Both; common on pumps |
| IM B14 | Small face flange | C-face style; not the same as B5 |
| IM V1 | Vertical flange, shaft down | Bearings and drain plugs differ |
Need a JW motor?
Send kW or hp, volts, frequency, poles, mounting, and a nameplate photo. Stock IEC three-phase (YE3 / Y2) or custom windings — we quote from the plate, not from the logo.
